Contact-based campaigns at a glance

PermissionContact-based CampaignsUpdated on 14.10.2026

Contact-based campaigns are called Contact-based Campaigns in the CAP Explorer. Their visuals run only on an ad contact and provide the data for the Impressions dashboard and the Performance dashboard. How the campaign kinds differ is described in Understand campaign kinds.

Only this order is fixed: first you create the campaign, then you add visuals. You only need everything else for the Performance dashboard.

  1. Create the campaignAlways, first

You create the campaign entry with name, brand and run time. The run time sets the frame in which the visuals play. See Create a contact-based campaign.

  2. Add a visualAlways, as soon as the campaign exists

You upload the video and plan the playout. Start and end lie within the run time of the campaign. A campaign can have any number of visuals. See Add a contact-based visual.

  3. Impressions dashboardAutomatically from the second day

The dashboard appears without any action on your part and shows how often your visuals were played. It does not compare shoppers with and without ad contact.

  4. Analytics productsOptional, only for the Performance dashboard, any time until the request

You enter the products whose sales are analyzed. This also works during the campaign. See Add analytics products.

  5. Marketing activitiesOptional, only for the Performance dashboard, until the request

You assign discounts, events or secondary placements. They are analyzed in the Premium Report and in Deep Dive Insights. See Add marketing activities.

  6. RequestOnly for the Performance dashboard

You request the Performance dashboard with the Request button. See Open dashboards.

  7. Performance dashboardAfter the request, officially after the end of the campaign

The dashboard shows how the sales of the analytics products differ between shoppers with and without ad contact.
